Adding an Event to Your Timetoast Timeline In Ten Steps 👣

Following each film we view in class, you will add an event depicted therein to the Timetoast timeline you created for History Through Film. At the end of the semester, you will be able to see the historical eras covered in class and the connections that these events have on you today. The ten steps listed below will walk you through the process of adding an event of your choice to your timeline.

Step 1
After signing in to your Timetoast account, click on your History Through Film timeline.

Step 2
Click the “Menu” dropdown button and select the “Edit timeline” option.

Step 3
Click “Add event” and a popup will appear.

Step 4
Enter the film’s name in the “Title” section.

Step 5
Identify a date portrayed in the film (at least a year, with a month and day, if provided in the film) and enter it in the “Date" section.
NOTE: BC/BCE is in reference to the years that occur before AD/CE (the current calendar year is 2022 AD/CE; 5000 BC/BCE occurred 7,022 years ago)

Step 6
Highlight and copy (Ctrl + C) the following text: 

EVENT: Highlight the red text and, in at least one sentence, fully describe the event that occurred on the identified date in the film / FACT CHECK: Highlight the orange text and, in at least one sentence, fully compare the accuracy of the event in the film with the historical event / CONNECTION: Highlight the blue text and, in at least one sentence, fully describe a connection you made between the event and the modern day / RATING: ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ Delete the appropriate number of stars to give the movie a rating out of five stars; Highlight the green text and, in at least one sentence, fully explain why you rated the film as you did

Step 7
Paste (Ctrl + V) into the “Description” section. Follow the bracketed instructions in the pasted text.

Step 8
Edit your “Description” section. Your text should be reflect accurate spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and grammar.

Step 9
Upload the film’s cover or a still image from the film. You must include the graphic’s extension (e.g., .jpg, .gif, .png) in the upload or an error message will appear.

Step 10
Click “Create event”. Make sure your event is public or it can't be graded and you'll earn 0/50!
